Specialized Care with a Personalized Approach
What is a 'Boutique' Therapy Practice?
At Nourishing Change, 'Boutique' Therapy means that I am a solo clinician who intentionally sees a smaller volume of clients, and maintains specialized areas of focus (eating disorders/disordered eating, anxiety, and related issues such as body-image and mood concerns).

As a therapist, this enables me to align my practice with my personal and professional values, and to fulfill my ultimate goal, which is:
To provide strengths-based, compassionate, and competent care, that remains personalized and client-centered.
How 'Boutique' Therapy Benefits YOU :
-
It means that you only have to tell your story to one person. You will not have to first speak with an assistant or intake staff. All inquiries -whether it be through my website contact form, by email, or by phone - are answered and responded to directly by me, within 1 business day (Monday - Friday).
-
You can feel assured that the service you receive is thoughtful and customized to meet your individual needs. This is because maintaining a smaller practice allows me to have time between sessions to carefully process what we have discussed, plan for our next session, and access/share beneficial resources with you (‘One size fits all’ should not apply to our bodies or clothing, nor should it apply to therapy!).
-
Because I specialize, you can feel confident that I bring competence and passion to addressing your specific needs, and to our therapeutic work together.
-
It means knowing that I will arrive to session unrushed, and fully present for you.
-
And it means that I am able to regularly take time to read/research and participate in trainings so that I can continually expand my knowledge and therapeutic ‘tool box’ to better meet your needs.
Why Video Therapy?
The COVID-19 pandemic caused an abrupt need to pivot how therapy services were provided. Over the past 3 years, the majority of my client interactions have been through video therapy. While video therapy is not ideal for everyone and every circumstance, many of my clients have actually preferred the convenience that video therapy offers. More importantly, in most situations, myself and my clients have found it to be highly effective; both in terms of the quality of our therapeutic relationship, and with achieving therapeutic goals - and this experience is backed by research which has found teletherapy to be as effective as in-person therapy in many situations.

But How do You Ensure that Video Therapy Feels Personal?
It is important to me that video sessions feel safe, warm, and personal. And, that as much as possible, sessions have a similar feel to that of meeting in person. So with this in mind:

-
You will not see me wearing a headset. I take careful precautions to ensure that sessions remain confidential using other means (a quiet home without interruptions, with a private, closed door office, and the use of an added noise cancelation machine). *For your own enhanced sound and privacy, you may feel more comfortable wearing ear buds or headphones on your end.
-
You will not see me using artificial or blurred backgrounds – what you see behind me is real, and intentionally chosen to invite a calm, comfortable vibe.
-
I am mindful of my positioning with the camera, the importance of eye contact, and I do not type notes during sessions.
-
I want to keep things casual. So I welcome you to bring your tea, coffee, a snack, or your favourite comfort items (4-legged friends included!).
